From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Seth B. Herzon (b. 1980) is an American organic chemist and the Milton Harris ’29 Ph.D. Professor of Chemistry at Yale University.[1][2] Herzon's research focuses on the synthesis of complex natural products.

Early life and education

Herzon graduated from Valley Forge Military Academy, a private high school outside of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. After briefly working in a pizzeria, Herzon enrolled at Temple University where his father was a professor of political science. While at Temple, Herzon worked in the lab of Grant Krow, an organic chemist.[3] Herzon completed a PhD in chemistry at Harvard University in 2006 under Andrew Myers and worked until 2008 as a postdoctoral scholar at University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.

Career and research

Herzon began his independent career at Yale University in 2008, and received tenure in 2013. He is currently the Milton Harris '29 Ph.D. Professor of Chemistry. His work is focused on the total synthesis of complex natural products, and he has achieved several landmark syntheses including hasubanonine,[4] kinamycin F,[5]huperzine A,[6] and pleuromutilin.[7]
