Seth Allison, better known as Sethward, is an actor and absurdist comedian. He is best known for his physical comedy[1] signature handlebar mustache and homemade animal costumes reappearing on television talent show competitions. He competed as five different animal characters on two seasons of ABC's The Gong Show 2017 reboot and on multiple seasons 13, 14, 16, 17 of America's Got Talent and then America's Got Talent: All-Stars.[2][3] This landed him the official record holder for most appearances on both shows.[4][5]
In 2010 Sethward guest starred on The Office (American TV series)[6] and can occasionally be seen on segments for Jimmy Kimmel Live.
Personal life[edit]
Sethward was born in Amarillo, Texas, United States and grew up in Canyon.[7] He moved to LA to go to school at Pepperdine University where he produced a sketch comedy show[8] and ran Cross Country and Track.[9]
Talent Competitions[edit]
Sethward first auditioned for America's Got Talent season 13 season as Sethward the Caterpillar in which he got four buzzers from the judges.[10][11] He returned to the show for its 14th season as Sethward the Giraffe and was dragged offstage being eliminated again by all four judges. Sethward came back in the same episode but as Sethward the Walrus making him the first contestant to get eliminated twice in one season.[12] He auditioned again for the shows 16th season as Sethward the Peacock, this time receiving four yes votes from the judges, and advancing to the quarter finals round as Sethward the Phoenix in which he was eliminated.[13] Sethward came back during the last audition episode of AGT season 17 as at first The Big Apple, a large red apple but then surprised the judges by emerging as a large earthworm, Sethward the Worm. All the judges had already eliminated the Big Apple so Terry Crews started to drag him away but ripped the worm in two causing a half naked Sethward the Worm to run off stage before the judges could give a critique. [14][15][16][17]
Controversy[edit]
Chelsea Handler insulted Sethward the Snake on The Gong Show by calling him a walrus. Sethward came back the next year on the second season as Sethward the Walrus.[18]
On multiple occasions Sethward's costumes have seemingly ripped apart during his performances on AGT causing some sort of wardrobe malfunction. Fans are not sure if this is actually an accident it has happened so frequently.[19][20]
In 2022 Sethward appeared as an earthworm on AGT of which Heidi Klum was a judge. That Halloween Heidi dressed up as an earthworm[21], when she was asked where she got the idea she responded that she'd never seen anyone be a worm before.[22]
