Seydişehir Eti Alüminyumspor is a former football club founded by Etibank Aluminum Enterprise in Seydişehir District of Konya. Having played in the first season of the then TFF Second League (currently the First League) and 14 seasons in the TFF Third League, Seydişehir Eti Alüminyumspor last appeared in the Third League in the 2000–2001 season and relegated to the Amateur League. It was dissolved in the year 2007.
History[edit]
The club was founded in 1955 under the name "Seydişehir Etispor".[1] It was later renamed "Etibank Seydişehir Alüminyumspor", played promotion matches in order to participate in professional leagus in the 1980s and got eliminated. Due to a law enated by the Turgut Özal government of the period, TFF Third League was established and eliminated promotion matches, instead clubs with sports facilities could be admitted to this league.[2]
Etibank Seydişehir Alüminyumspor competed in the 1984–1985 season as the leader in the 6th Group of the Third League, and it was promoted to the Second League for the first time in its history. However, in the 1985–1986 season, it was relegated to the Third League by completing the Second League Group B in the last place. In the 1996–1997 season, it ranked 16th in the 5th Group of Third League and fell into the amateur tier.
While the club spent the 1997–1998 season in the amateur tier, the aluminum business in the district was institutionalized as Eti Alüminyum A.Ş. on January 26 of 1998, under the framework of Etibank Restructuring.[3] Thereupon, the name of the club was changed to "Seydişehir Eti Alüminyumspor". After two seasons in the amateur league, Levent Numanoğlu became the coach of the team. With passing Konya, the club became champion in the Super Amateur League and started to competet in the Third League again in the 1999–2000 season.
After Etibank was acquired by the Savings Deposit Insurance Fund of Turkey, the club was taken under the roof of Bayındırbank. It competed in the 5th Group of the Third League in the 15th rank, and fell into the amateur league again. It did not return to the professional leagues after that.
At the end of the 2001–2002 season, the club became champion again in the Konya Super Amateur League. It played the play-off matches for promotion to the Third League, and lost to Isparta Telekomspor in the quarter-finals.[4] Following the privatization of Alüminyum in 2005, the club relegated to the Konya First Amateur League from the Konya Super Amateur League in the 2005–2006 season, and did not compete in the leagues.[2] The club has not been active since 2007.
