Shafi's campaign against the Sikhs was a two-year-long campaign led by Mirza Shafi's Mughal forces against Sikh forces.[2][3][4]
Prelude[edit]
From 8 June to 18 October 1779, Abdul Ahad Khan held an expedition against Patiala.[5] After he failed the expedition, Mirza Najaf Khan needed to do something about the Sikhs.[2] By 1780, the Sikhs had became supreme in the vast tract of the country.[6]
Result[edit]
The campaign failed to stop the Sikhs.[5][7] According to Sikh sources, the Rohilla, Zabita Khan, became baptized as a Sikh and took on the new name of Dharam Singh.[5]
