Gaming[edit]
Shalymar started watching Twitch TV channels when she was in college studying for her bachelor's degree in communications. She would listen (lurk) to the streamers talk about video game strategies while she would write articles[2] in college. She has always loved video games since she was very young. Her first console was a Nintendo 64 where she would play video games like Super Mario 64, Legend of Zelda, Golden Eye 007, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater and so many more. Her absolute favorite game however was Duck Hunt on her NES with the attachable zapper. She would primarily watch video games on Twitch like League of Legends and kept up with any new horror games.
Before she started watching Twitch, Shalymar came across the platform because she would watch streamer clips and highlights via Tumblr in 2013. Her favorite montages included raging and jump scares. After following the interactive gaming community for all those years, Shagarita[3] later was born. She created a Twitch account in April 2018. The original name for the Twitch account name was called "GroovyShally." She intially created the account to watch video games live while interacting with chat to help her cope with her some personal life struggles. She did not plan on streaming video games when she originally created the account. Video games became her escape from reality.
The community she had built within the gaming entertainment industry motivated her to press go live. Her first stream was on October 31, 2018 where she cosplayed Snow White from Snow White and Seven Dwarfs creating a hilarious comedic twist to her live stream while using a variety of natural props. Her original $300 set up included her broken college laptop, an Astro headset, Røde mic from her cinematography projects and a wish for a fun online interactive enviroment. The first video game she played on Twitch was Fortnite where she would get high eliminations while her community created challenges like the Blind Fold test.
She later was picked up by an esports gaming organization, Down to Quest[4], in 2018. Shagarita left the organization after 2 years in 2020 to be an independent professional gamer. During her time live streaming she has won hundreds of games in League of Legends, Fortnite, PUBG and many more. Twitch has invited Shagarita many times for debuts of new games they have developed like Twitch Sings[5] and broadcasting the NBA G-League[6]. She has mentioned many times that there's been a few organizations that have been watching her to pick her up to be a part of their organizations. However she has said that she is waiting for the right contract to come along and be a part of their organization. She is currently a free agent.

Personal Life[edit]
Shalymar Lee Rivera González was born in Puerto Rico on August 17, 1995. Her family moved to Boston, when she was 11 years old. In Massachusetts, her mother was an emergency nurse and her father owned a barbershop. Rivera González attended Eastern Nazarene College and studied for a double major in communications and philosophy/religion. She is the oldest of five siblings, two boys and two girls. She currently lives in the United States of America.
Career Beginnings[edit]
Acting[edit]
She started acting at the age of 11 years old where she attended a private acting academy in Boston, MA. There Shalymar was trained in commercial, television, film, print, and so much more. Her first commercial was an orange juice commercial at 11 years old.
Dance[edit]
She started dancing at the age of 3 years old where her abuela, Sol, taught her a traditional dance called bomba y plena. She later enrolled in a dance academy at 11 years old where she learned Pointe, Ballet, Tap, Hip-Hop and Jazz Ensemble.
Singing[edit]
Shalymar has loved singing and music since the day she was born. When she was a baby her father had to place her in the carseat, turn on music and drive around until she fell asleep. Music and singing came naturally to Shalymar. She plays the piano and loves the sound of violins. She was a part of her college's gospel choir from 2013-2016, where she performed gospel music travelling all over the North East of America.
Writing[edit]
Shalymar wrote several articles for Veritas News[12] which was the student news publication of Eastern Nazarene College. She excuted off-beat articles that would grab the attention of the audience.
Radio Personality[edit]
She was brought on as an digital media intern for Fun107 and WBSM Radio Station when she was in college. Within a month, they promoted her to work as a radio personality and be a part of their marketing/advertising team. She ran a radio show with Phil Paleologos[13] called Midday with Phil and Shalymar. They would talk about a variety of topics left open ended where audience members would call in to have conversations about current local and global news, sports and more.
