Shahnur Rahman Lumin (born 10 January 1978) , popularly known as Lumin, is a Bangladeshi singer, media personality and the lead vocalist of the legendary band Feedback[1] Professionally, he is also a banker.[1]. Besides band songs, he has released 21 solo songs and lent his voice to several duet albums.Over the last two decades, he has performed both in Bangladesh and on international stages.
Early life and education
Lumin was born and raised in Dhaka. He completed his secondary education at Motijheel Government Boys' High School and higher secondary from Government Science College. Later, he obtained his BA and MA in English from Jahangirnagar University.[1] He also holds a diploma in Social Media Marketing from Canada.
Career
Music career
Lumin has been active in the Bangladeshi music scene for more than 25 years.
Beginnings (1992–2002)
During his school years, he formed a band named Sannyasi. Later, he joined Strangers.[1] While at Jahangirnagar University, he performed regularly at Muktomoncho and gained popularity as a young singer.
Feedback (2003–present)
Since 2003, he has been the lead singer of Feedback.[2][1] Alongside performing the band's classic numbers, he also wrote lyrics for some of their new songs. He penned the lyrics for Mone Hoy from Feedback's repertoire.[3]
Solo career
Lumin has also pursued a solo career, releasing 21 solo songs. Recently, he worked in a musical short film. In addition, he collaborated with many renowned Bangladeshi musicians in duet and group songs.
Musical identity
He has a personal musical logo, symbolizing his distinct musical identity.
Professional life
Outside music, Lumin has worked in the banking sector for more than 16 years, holding different key positions.
Acting career
Lumin often appears in his own music videos. He acted in a musical short film Fire Eso (Come Back), directed by Rajibul Hossain, which explores themes of friendship, love and relationships.
Personal life
He grew up in the Malibagh area of Dhaka and is the youngest of two brothers. In school, he was known as a striker in football and an all-rounder in cricket. He enjoys long drives, movies and spending time with friends.
