Shakin' Street (band)

Shakin' Street were a French hard rock band founded in the mid-1970s by singer Fabienne Shine and guitarist Eric Lévi. Shine had been a familiar face on the French scene since the 1960s as a model and actor. She dated Led Zeppelin's Jimmy Page for a while in the 1970s, and her experience following the band around the world inspired her to become a singer-songwriter herself.
Shine and Levi recruited drummer Jean-Lou Kalinowski and bassist Mike Winter to join their band, which soon became a popular live attraction in Paris, thanks to their high-energy stage shows and Shine's striking appearance. They eventually signed a contract with CBS Records. Their 1978 debut album Vampire Rock was a minor hit in France but attracted relatively little attention elsewhere. It was never released in the United States (although it was released in Canada.)[1] The band did gain the attention of two notable American rockers: i.e., Blue Öyster Cult producer/manager Sandy Pearlman and guitarist "Ross the Boss" Friedman (then best known as a founding member of the punk band The Dictators.). Friedman joined the band on lead guitar, and they recorded their eponymous second album in the US, which was released in March 1980.[2] This album proved to be much more successful than their debut. Their mentor Sandy Pearlman gave them the opportunity to open for Blue Öyster Cult and Black Sabbath, amongst other bands.
The band broke up in 1981 before a third album could be recorded, but they have reunited a number of times over the years. Friedman became a founding member of Manowar immediately after Shakin' Street broke up. Shine married the musician Damon Edge, who moved back to France with her.
