Shannon O'Leary
Shannon O'Leary (March 2003) is an infamous fan of the University of South Carolina, Columbia mascot, the Gamecocks. She is currently a student studying at the Darla Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina. In the fall 2021 semester, she will begin housing in the Capstone Scholars Building and begin her studies in August 2021.
Early Life
Shannon O'Leary was born in March 2003 in Locust Valley, New York. Born to Cheryl and Mitch O'Leary[1], she was raised with her parents and younger brother, Donathan. They resided in Wantagh, New York [2] and she attended St. Dominic's High School with her brother after completing eight years in the Wantagh Public School District.
Education
Shannon attended St. Dominic's High School for four years. She graduated in June 2021 with a New York State Advanced Diploma.
Throughout high school, Shannon played a plethora of sports including volleyball and field hockey. In her junior year of high school, she had reached the varsity levels for both sports, however, she has no plans of continuing at a college level, although many scouts have claimed her as the volleyball "G.O.A.T."[3] and encouraged her to play volleyball for the NCAA Gamecocks.
In April of 2021, Shannon announced through her Instagram[4] that she’d be attending the University of South Carolina to continue her educational endeavors. Her decision was met with much support as well as criticism, citing that South Carolina is too "hick"[5] and that she might run into Isabella Parlante[6] there.
Legacy
Shannon O'Leary is known across the eastern seaboard as the biggest Gamecock fan. She is often spotted in public wearing Gamecock merchandise and can be heard repeatedly shouting "Go Cocks!", often in unison with her annoying friend, Caroline Schrama[7]. Shannon is known in her hometown of Wantagh as the "cock enthusiast" and it is expected that a parade will greet her when she returns home from Columbia for Thanksgiving in November 2021.
