Sharif Zahir is the youngest CIP[1][2] & Bangladeshi businessman[3]. He is the managing director[4] of Ananta Group, an apparel and fashion company based in Dhaka, Bangladesh. He is a prominent figure in the country's textile and garment industry.

Early life and education[edit]

Sharif Zahir was born and raised in Dhaka, Bangladesh. He graduated from the University of Texas at Austin.[5]

Career[edit]

After completing his education, Sharif Zahir returned to Bangladesh and joined as managing director in 2006[5] at Ananta Group, a family-owned business that was founded by his father in 1992.

Under his leadership, Ananta Group has grown to become one of the largest apparel and fashion companies in Bangladesh, with a diverse portfolio of products and a global customer base. The company employs over 26,000 people across its various facilities and has a strong focus on sustainability and social responsibility.[6]

Sharif has also been involved in the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association.[7]

Sharif signed Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority(BEZA) land for Ananta Group[8]. He took the initiative to build six industries in BRZA's new economic zone, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Shilpa Nagar in Mirsarai[9]. The expansion of the RMG sector indicates Bangladesh's Economic's major growth[10].

Awards and recognition[edit]

Sharif Zahir has received awards and recognition for his contributions to the textile and garment industry in Bangladesh. He is named as a commercially important person by the Ministry of Commerce under the Bangladesh Government, as an exporter in the RMG industry.[11]
