Shaun Michael Lewis (born August 9, 1982) is an American businessman, politician, and chief executive officer of Clearwater Properties.[1][2][3] Lewis had previously served as the company's chief operating officer from 2016-2019.[4][5] He is recognized for his contributions to various organizations in the U.S. and Europe and his involvement in political activities, particularly in the state of Washington and Poland.

Early Life and education

Shaun Michael Lewis was born on August 9, 1982 in the San Francisco Bay Area, California.[6] He is of British, Scottish, French, and German ancestry. Lewis comes from a notable Montana family with five-generation roots in the state.[7] Lewis is a verified direct lineal descendant of the Mayflower, descending from multiple passengers including John Howland, Richard Warren, John Tilley, Joan Tilley, and Elizabeth Tilley.[8]

Lewis earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a minor in Finance from Columbia College, graduating summa cum laude. He also completed a Technology Degree in Electronics Engineering from NavAir Technical University in Pensacola, Florida, with academic honors. Following this undergraduate studies, Lewis earned a Master of Science from Chapman University and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Washington's Michael G. Foster School of Business,[6] where he graduated in the top 10% of his class and was inducted into Beta Gamma Sigma. Lewis earned an Executive MBA / PLD at Harvard Business School.[9] He also completed a General Management Program at Columbia University's Columbia Business School in New York, NY.[10]

Career

Military Service

Lewis served as an Electronics Engineering Non-Commissioned Officer in the United States Navy from 2000 to 2005, with deployments to Okinawa, Japan and U-Tapao, Thailand.[11] Lewis was stationed at Naval Air Station Pensacola, Florida; Jacksonville Naval Air Station, Florida; and Whidbey Island Naval Air Station, Washington. Lewis is a graduate of the U.S. Navy's NavAir Technical University in Pensacola, Florida, where he completed the Electronics Engineering Program with academic honors. During his service, Lewis was attached to various anti-submarine and anti-surface warfare units, including Patrol Squadron One, based at NAS Whidbey Island.

Government Service

Lewis held key leadership positions in several large U.S. federal government agencies. From 2006 to 2009, he served as a Senior Manager of HR Operations and Legal at the U.S. Department of Justice and as a Senior Business Partner at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs from 2009 to 2016.[10]

Business Career

From 2015 to 2016, while attending the MBA program at the University of Washington's Foster School of Business, Lewis served as an AI Technology and Strategy Consultant for BoldIQ, a Bellevue, Washington-based company providing operational artificial intelligence solutions. He collaborated with company executives to research market opportunities and develop growth strategies.

In 2016, following his graduation from the University of Washington, Lewis was appointed to a dual role as Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Clearwater Properties, a large U.S.-based real estate brokerage firm, serving until his departure and relocation to Europe in early 2020. During his tenure at the company, Lewis conducted a comprehensive rebranding and significantly upgraded its technological systems and corporate processes.[10]

In January 2020, Lewis joined Cofix, an international retail coffee chain, as the company's Global Chief Operating Officer (COO).[12][13] Cofix was founded in 2013 in Tel Aviv, Israel, and by the end of 2019 operated approximately 380 stores across Israel and Russia. As COO, Lewis was responsible for new market launches, team development, and operations across EMEA, LATAM, and APAC regions. As part of the executive team, Lewis was instrumental in launching Cofix operations in Poland[14] and Brazil in 2020, Spain in 2023,[15][16] and Armenia in 2024.[17][18] In 2024, he led the corporate takeover of the Poland franchisee operations when the master franchisee declared bankruptcy,[19] ensuring business continuity in the market.[20] During his tenure at Cofix, Lewis served as an executive member of the Board of Directors and was extensively involved in Series A fundraising from venture capital firms and institutional investors. By the end of 2024, Cofix was among the Top-20 largest coffee chains in Europe[21] and operated 480 stores across six countries.[22][23]

In April 2025, Lewis was appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Clearwater Properties[24], returning to the company after a five-year absence. He relocated from Europe to the United States to assume this leadership role. As CEO, Lewis leads the luxury and recreational real estate brokerage firm that operates 35 office locations[25] across five U.S. states (Montana, Idaho, North Dakota, Washington, and Wyoming)[26] and internationally in Costa Rica and Belize.[27] The company has been recognized as one of "America's Best Brokerages" by The Land Report annually since 2017.[28][29] As of 2023, Clearwater Properties reported annual sales volume of approximately $500 million.[25] The company's subsidiary, Clearwater Montana Properties, is the largest Montana-founded real estate brokerage operating in the state.[30]

Politics

In 2016, Lewis was elected by party caucuses to serve as a Washington State Delegate, representing Pierce County at the Washington Republican State Convention held May 19-21, 2016 in Pasco, WA.[31] The state convention served as one of the Republican's Party's primaries ahead of the 2016 presidential election. During the state convention, Lewis was elected from among the 3,000 state delegates to serve as a National Delegate to the Republican National Convention (RNC).[32][33] As a National Delegate representing Washington's 8th Congressional District, Lewis participated in the formal presidential nomination procedures and platform development that shape national party policy and presidential candidate selection.[34] Lewis serves as Chairman of Republicans Overseas Poland,[35] an official organization of the Republican Party (RNC) that supports conservative Americans living in Poland.

Lewis is a contributor to Forbes[36] and Entrepreneur magazine, where he has authored articles on franchising, real estate, and business strategy.[36] His published articles include topics such as franchise opportunities, coffee shop management, and business strategy.[37] He also serves as an advisor to Harvard Business Review.

Lewis has been featured in various media outlets and industry publications related to his business activities, particularly in connection with his roles at Cofix and Clearwater Properties. Lewis is regularly consulted by national media for his expertise in F&B, the coffee industry,[38] real estate,[39][40] finance,[41] and economics.[42][43]

Personal life

Lewis resides in Whitefish, Montana with his spouse and daughter.[44] He is multilingual, speaking English natively and Russian at an intermediate level.[45] Lewis is a member of several professional and social organizations, including Beta Gamma Sigma honor society, Harvard Alumni Association, Harvard Business School Alumni, Harvard Club of Boston, Washington Athletic Club, The Mayflower Society, United States Naval Institute, and World Affairs Council.[46]
