Shawn James Eastman (born February 18, 1985), is a professional photographer and author. He is known for his diverse portfolio of photography work that has most notably included fashion, automotive and travel photography. He currently photographs classic Mercedes-Benz cars as the professional in-house photographer for Hemmels. In October 2020, his first travel photography based book was published, titled "Visuals of an Icelandic Winter".

Early work[edit]

Eastman first gained an interest in photography around the age of 16 and he eventually purchased his first digital camera, a Fujifilm Finepix S602Z. Eastman attended college in Cardiff, but didn't elect to study photography in order to gain qualifications. Instead, he chose to self-learn the skills by photographing around his hometown of Cardiff. By the age of 17, he had started taking on commissions which involved photographing fashion assignments, local events and weddings.

By the age of 19, his career mainly centred around fashion photography. During this time, he photographed a number of high-end fashion projects over the coming years and was involved in some capacity with photography shoots for the likes of Vogue, Dior Homme, Guess Jeans and L'Oreal sponsored fashion showcases.

2005-2017[edit]

By the age of 20, Eastman had began to travel more extensively, visiting over 35 countries by the age of 30. During this time, he developed an interest in travel and landscape photography and had photographed across several continents, capturing scenic photographs in countries such as Iceland, Indonesia, Singapore, Brazil, Germany, Colombia, Argentina, China, Thailand, USA and more. Much of the travel photography captured during these trips are often licensed for use in a wide range of global publications and brand marketing campaigns.

In 2016, Eastman began posting his travel photography work on social media platforms, including Instagram and Facebook. Over the next few years, Eastman built a fairly substantial Instagram following and this led to several collaborations photographing campaigns for national and international brands, including Canon, Waitrose, Napapijri, Cardiff Airport, Rekordelig and Lufthansa Airlines.

2018-present[edit]

In 2018, Eastman's career turned towards automotive photography. He became the in-house professional photographer for Hemmels, a world-renowned UK-based classic Mercedes-Benz restoration specialist. Currently, he predominantly photographs classic Mercedes-Benz vehicles such as the Mercedes-Benz 280SL and iconic Mercedes-Benz 300SL Roadster, and has photographed a number of Mercedes-Benz vehicles and events at the Mercedes-Benz MBWorld Museum in Brooklands.

In 2019, some of his automotive photography featuring a silver 280SL Pagoda was published in the Harrods Halycon magazine.

In early 2020, he spent time in Geneva, Switzerland, photographing a rare electric blue Mercedes-Benz 280SL. While in Geneva, he attended the SOC Get Together event to photograph the revealing of the £1.8 million Rimac C2 and photographed at Geneva's 5-Star Four Seasons Hotel.

His professional automotive photography has been published in many print and online publications, including a special feature in a Pagoda edition of Octane Magazine in the UK, as well as publications in the official Mercedes-Benz owners club magazine and well-known online content websites such as The Luxury Channel.

Eastman has continued his travel photography work alongside automotive photography and still travels extensively. His travel photography and landscape work has been consistently published in a wide range of print and online publications. Throughout 2019 and 2020, brands and businesses including Trip Advisor, Turkish Airlines, Time Out Doha and TTG Asia have featured his travel photography.

In October 2020, Eastman published his first book, titled "Visuals of an Icelandic Winter", with KDP, Amazon's official publishing unit.
