As of 2021 the song has over 1.8 million views on YouTube, and was covered by the famous artist Doja Cat on Instagram Live and on one of her Instagram posts.[2] The song was also the subject of a video created by popular YouTuber and gamer Cr1TiKaL which received 1.5 million views after a month on YouTube.

As of 2021, little is known of the artist. In 2009 the video was uploaded to a YouTube channel under the name Maxb24.[3] Years later the channel was changed to the name FRNZY, and in 2021 the channel was renamed to Maxeboy with new channel art and a new profile image.[4] There has been speculation and debate onto the artist's identity and discography, on various platforms such as Reddit.[1]

The song has gained popularity largely due to the mystery surrounding it. YouTube comments, TikTok users, and Reddit forums have become abundant with people claiming to have known the artist, conspiracy theories about the song, and satirical claims about the artist which inflate his identity to mythical proportions, comparable to Chuck Norris facts.
