Projects[edit]

The Machine[edit]

It is a prizewinner of the USA AMD World Championship of Custom Bike Building 2010[1][10] and many more international events. The bike was built on the base of the Soviet 1500 cc engine K-750 which was reinforced with a screw-type compressor.

According to Yuri Shif the idea came into his head in May 2009 as “a tribute to the enthusiasts and romantics of speed of all generations”.

The custom bike was created in 2010. The construction process took mere two months. The Machine is a unique piece of machinery because the exact same motorcycle could have been created 70 years ago. The solutions applied to its engineering, mechanics, and design were available back then.[11][12]

Silver Stork[edit]

Silver Stork (Russian: Серебряный аист - Serebriany aist) is the first major project of the ShifCustom workshop, which was custom-built for Vladimir Sivakov on the base of Harley-Davidson.[13] All components of the motorcycle are unique, excluding the engine and wheels, and custom-made only for this order. The power unit includes a RevTech engine with 6-speed gearbox and a Belt Drivers clutch.[14] It took nine months to built the bike. The motorcycle got its title as The Super Sensation from Minsk, and it was the bike that brought fame to the ShifCustom workshop.[15]

Silver Stork is a motorcycle for everyday use on public roads without any reservations.

Terminator[edit]

This custom bike is a tribute to the movie The Terminator by James Cameron.[16] Two and a half years the team were creating it of stainless steel and aluminum on the base of Harley-Davidson engine unit. The ShifCustom workshop custom-made its swing arm, fork, frame and subframe. The style and appearance were inspired by the robot Terminator T 700.[17] The body-maker is not painted. The first exposure to the public took place at the European customizing event of the World Championship Of Bike Building in Köln.

Specifications:

  • Engine capacity – 1,6 liter
  • Weight – 350 kg
  • Length – 2,78 m

М1NSK М4 200[edit]

For the first time, М1NSK М4 200 was presented at the EICMA 2011 international motorcycle exhibition. It is a motorcycle produced by the М1NSK manufacturer with participation of the ShifCustom workshop. The engine horsepower is 13,5 at 8500 rpm, fuel consumption rate is 3 liters per 100 km. The custom bike follows the style of the '50s, and at the same time it has a state-of-the-art brake system.[18][19]

Ducati GT1000 Shifter[edit]

This custom bike is styled to resemble the race motorcycles of the '70s. The first appearance to the public was at the Köln motorcycle exhibition in 2012, where it won the Best Cafe Racer prize.[20]

An Italian motorcycle Ducati GT1000 became a donor for the project. The handle bar, battery holder, fairing, body, and fuel tank were created anew individually, and the exhaust systems was significantly refurbished. The original engine from Duсati was left as is. The front and rare suspension follow the branded Ducati design.[21]

In parallel with Ducati GT1000 Shifter, the workshop was creating another custom bike similar by the style – Duсati Monster MS4 R. Both projects have been completed in 12 months.[22]

Yuri Gagarin[edit]

Yuri Shif says that a tribute bike isn't a life-like portrait of Gagarin. It is a contribution to that period of time as a whole rather than to space exploration. In creator’s opinion, it is one of his best motorcycles.[23]

Despite its dedication to the era of the 1960s, the motorcycle is up-to-date in technological sense. It is based on the frame Harley-Davidson Softail and engine Harley-Davidson Twin Cam with 6-speed gearbox. All mechanical components are placed inside the body, which is custom-made without saying as well as the fuel tank, fairing, rims, and fork.[24]

The body is made of unpainted aluminum with artwork by Vladimir Tsesler. The font, which was used to write the custom's name, was inspired by the Soviet poster art. The rear fender bears a quotation from Yuri Gagarin's notes written after his first space mission.[23]

In January 2018 an American motorcycling media RideApart declared the custom Yuri Gagarin the Motorcycle of the Week.[25]

Ducky[edit]

This custom is the winner of the European Biker Build Off 2015. The motorcycle has been assembled during the event within three days. Later on, it became a winner of many European and international competitions.[26] The motorcycle got its name after a rubber duck in a motorcycle helmet – the mascot of the ShifCustom workshop.

Ducky is a racing motorcycle, which was inspired by the rare flat tracker Cyclone Board Track Racer 1915 and one more rarity item of the French make Buchet created in the beginning of the last century. The custom combines features of the cafe racers and board trackers, which were so popular in the 20th century, and which were created specifically for racing.

The handlebar is lowered, and the foot pegs are set backwards in accordance with all canons of racing bikes. The bowl-shaped headlight, narrow fuel tank, and single seat are also indications of the racing character of the retro-bike. A girder fork was custom-made specifically for this custom, just like those mounted to the board trackers.[27]

The engine of Ducky is a significantly elaborated power unit Harley-Davidson Ironhead 1978, and the gearbox is Harley-Davidson WLA 1939.

Customers[edit]

A lot of well-known people have been customers of the ShifCustom workshop, among them Timati, Vladimir Kristovsky (Uma2rman), Mikhail Porechenkov.[16]
