Shindisi Castle

Shindisi Fortress (Georgian: შინდისის ციხე, translit.: shindisis tsikhe)—a fortress in Shida Kartli, in the northern part of the village of Shindisi, Gori Municipality, on the plain. It probably dates back to the second half of the 18th century.
The castle (67.5 × 49.6 m) is built of cobblestone. Bricks are also used on the interior walls and the chamber. In the corners of the castle—to the northeast, northwest, southeast, and southwest—there are cylindrical towers. The building is damaged. The northeast tower is almost destroyed. Three floors are partially surviving from the southeast tower. The walls of the first floor are deaf. The second and third floors have separate entrances from the courtyard. The walls of the second floor have single and double loopholes. The floor is covered with a low spherical arch of brick. The artillery is also located on the walls of the third floor. The arches were connected by a ladder attached to the wall. Only three floors of the northwest tower remain. The tower has separate entrances from the entrance yard to the first and second floors. The door of the first floor is directly covered with a full arch, there are arched niches on the sides. There are two small windows below the arch. Instead of spools, 0.6–0.8 m thick planks were used to cover the floor, on which the ceilings were supposedly arranged and clay was compacted on it. The fireplace and windows on the second floor of the tower are located in the same way as on the first. The walls are lined with single and paired artillery openings, four embrasures; Traces of plastering can be seen. The southwest tower has a similar architectural solution. The prison fence is also damaged. It is two-tiered. The lower tier is deaf. At the top was a wooden fighting platform. The top line of the fence is equipped with double cannons. The fence ends with semicircular cones.
