“Shine Again” is a song by alternative rock band Weezer, released on April 1, 2026 as the lead single from their upcoming sixteenth studio album, through Reprise Records. It was written by the band’s drummer Patrick Wilson, and produced by Klas Åhlund and Kenneth Blume.
Background
“Shine Again” was written and demoed by Wilson in March 2025. According to Rivers Cuomo, the band was “blown away” by it.[2] Cuomo stated that he felt the song was about “confidence in ourselves again and just trusting ourselves as a four-piece creative unit, saying the sun is within us and to look there for inspiration," while producer Kenneth Blume said the song "[sets] a tone to show where their heads [are] at" for the album.[3][4]
Release
The single was first teased in February, through an Instagram post. Throughout March, the band released clips of the song alongside announcements for their "The Gathering" tour.[6][7] The band played the song at an acoustic concert in Los Angeles on March 27, where flash drives containing MP3s of the song were handed out. The single, which was accompanied by a lyric video, marks Weezer's first release through Reprise Records, with the band's signing announced the day of release.[8][9][10]
