History[edit]
The company was founded by two University of New South Wales friends, Rob Hango-Zada and William On in May 2014, later launching in February 2015.[2] After working with a handful of fashion and homeware boutiques in Sydney’s Surry Hills, Shippit now facilitates delivery for retailers of all shapes and sizes across the APAC region[3]. In 2020, Shippit entered into the South East Asia market,[4][5] and currently operates in Singapore and Malaysia.
In March of 2022, Shippit acquired fellow Australian logistics company Premonition[6] and launched their refreshed brand curated by international brand building agency, DesignStudio.
Partnerships[edit]
Shippit partners with a range of couriers to ship to anywhere in the world[7]. They also partner with e-commerce companies including Big Commerce, Shopify, WooCommerce, eBay and Magento to integrate multiple sales channels and order management systems.
Shippit recently partnered with Uber to provide one hour on-demand delivery for Australian retailers, such as Cue Clothing Co.[8][9][10][11][12]
Operations[edit]
Shippit operates across the APAC region[1], primarily focussing on small to medium-sized businesses and enterprise online retailers and offer a variety of products including shipping and delivery, fulfilment and optimisation and post-purchase experiences.
Funding[edit]
In 2015, within a few months after launch, Shippit secured seed funding totalling $500,000[13]. In 2017, Shippit first raised $2.2 million in Series A funding backed by Aura Group, a venture fund that has backed startups like Catapult Sports and Institchu[14]. In 2020, Shippit raised a further $30 million in a Series B funding back by Tiger Global.[15]
In May of 2022, Shippit announced the completion of a $65 million Series B2 capital raise, backed by existing investors Tiger Global and Tidal Ventures.[16][17][18]
