Shirin Bakul (শিরিন বকুল) is a Bangladeshi actress and writer. She mainly works in theatre, Television and films. She started her career in 1986. She appeared in several television dramas and serials such as Gronthikgon Kohey, Songsoptok, Joyeeta, Nondini, Songhat,[1] Kon Graamer Meye, Rupali Manush etc.[2]
Early life[edit]
Shirin Bakul was born in Munshiganj on 28 August.[1] She studied Bengali literature and wanted to become a teacher.[2]
Career[edit]
She started her career by reciting poems. She did a course at a recitation group called Kanthashilan and annexed to theor activities.[2] She started her acting career in 1986 from theatre troupe Natyadal under the direction of Tariq Anam Khan. The play was Palabodol. She went on to perform in plays like Juddho Ebong Juddho, Tomrai, Bish Rokhkhar Chhuri etc. in the subsequent years. After performing regularly for a decade there, she switched to another theatre group Nagorik Natya Sampraday.
1990s saw her steppin into Television dramas. Shebdebuted with Anwara in Bangladesh Television. Later, she starred in several Television dramas and serials like Gronthikgon Kohey, Shongsaptak, Baro Rokom Manushera. In the 2000s, she took a hiatus and migrated to United States. She returned to Bangladesh in the 2010s and worked in two serials Dosh Feet and Megher Bhela. She continued her acting in another serials such as Joyeeta, Jiboner Oligoli, Sanghat, Nondini, Mujibnagarer Sabu etc.
Shirin Bakul has worked in a handful of movies in supporting roles. Her debut movie was Shatru Shatru Khela. She also appeared in Love Marriage, Devdas, Ei Golpe Bhalobasha Nei, Bhalobasha Zindabad and Purno Doirgho Prem Kahini 2.[1]

Shirin Bakul is also a writer. She has written seven books among which Kusholer Loting Poting, Rahul O Jhumjhumiwala, Aaj Shraboner Purnimate are notable.[3]

Personal life[edit]
She is married to Ahmad Mazhar who is an essayist and child literature. They have a son named Sudipto Priyodorshon.[1]
