Shivam Shankar Singh (born 29 May 1993) is an Indian political activist, data analyst and campaign manager who worked at the office of Bharatiya Janata Party's National General Secretary, Ram Madhav.[1][2] His team built technological tools for data analytics that allow for the analysis of booth level voting data, creation of demographic profiles for constituencies, GIS mapping of datasets and introduced survey methodologies to increase the accuracy of on ground surveys conducted by the party.[3][1]
In June 2018, Shivam Shankar Singh resigned from BJP after becoming disillusioned with the party.[4][5][2][6]
Education[edit]
Shivam graduated from the University of Michigan - Ann Arbor with a Bachelor of Science in Economics in May 2015.[7] He was a Phi Beta Kappa member.[8] After coming back to India, Shivam joined the Legislative Assistant to Member of Parliament (LAMP) Fellowship managed by PRS Legislative Research, where he provided research inputs to his assigned Member of Parliament to help the MP fulfill his parliamentary duties.[9]
Resignation[edit]
The reasons that Shivam gave for resigning from the party were republished by several online and print media organizations in India and elsewhere.[10][11][12][5] His post was translated and published in several Indian languages including Hindi, Malayalam, Telugu and Bengali.[13][14][15][4]
Writing[edit]
Shivam also writes on policy and politics and has been published in several publications, notably in The Indian Express and the HuffPost.[16][17][18] Shivam published his first book titled "How to Win an Indian Election" in February 2019 with Penguin India. [19]
