Shmuel Yitzhak Schor (Hebrew: שמואל יצחק שור; 1839 – March 13, 1902), was a rabbi from Galicia.
Biography
Early years
Shmuel Yitzhak Schor was born in the town of Monastyryska (known as Monasterishtsh [מאנאַסטערישטש] in Yiddish), then in Austria-Hungary, now in Ukraine, in 1839. He was born to Moshe Chayim, who was Rabbi of the town at the time, and Beila. His paternal grandfather was Shmuel Shmelke, who had also been Rabbi of the town. He was a direct patrilineal descendant of Rabbi Joseph ben Isaac Bekhor Shor, a French tosafist.
From an early age, Shmuel Yitzchak Schor showed signs of genius, and at the age of 11 he wrote an essay on Tractate Nazir.[2]
