History

The original residence was a two story house, a two over two, a traditional Colonial construction. [2] The house was built in the late 18th century, perhaps 1790. The present structure contains the our rooms that made up the two over two.

Originally, the house was part of a larger property that included the Airville plantation, which is adjacent to Showan.[3] It is likely that the original building may have served as a caretaker's house for Airville after Airivlle was built.[4]

In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, Showan was the residence of John Newstead Tabb and his wife Cynthia Claxton Tabb.[5] The Tabbs of Showan were members of the local Ware Church parish.[6]

In 1972, the property was purchased by Ervin and Simone Desbrosse Vest, who renovated the house and used the property as a private farm for produce and pecans.[4]

In the 1980s, the property was purchased by John B. Nezlek and K. Colleen Kelley, who renovated the property further and maintained it as a private residence.[7]
