The Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima, or the Fatima Shrine, is dedicated to Holy Mary, Jesus' mother, at St. Albert the Great Priory, at 41A–41B Stubbs Road (I.L. 3550), Victoria City, Hong Kong, part of which, including the shrine, later became the campus of Rosaryhill School.[1][2]
The sculptured figures were made by Father Thomas Mcglynn OP, to honour the apparition of Virgin Mary at Fátima, Portugal, in 1917, to the three shepherds Francisco, Jacinta and Lúcia.[3][4][5][6]
The sculpture group of Our Lady of Fátima and the three shepherds was destined for the missions of the American Dominicans in China. But when it arrived in Hong Kong in 1950, there were difficulties in getting the statue into China following the fall of the régime across the border the year earlier. The Apostolic Prefect of the Missions in Fukien donated the statue to St. Albert's Priory. A solemn blessing of the shrine took place on 8 August 1950 and soon it became a centre of devotion to Our Lady of the Rosary of Fátima.[3][5][6][7]
One of the stone markers of the city boundaries of the City of Victoria, erected in 1903, is located near the Fatima Shrine.[8]
