Shuto Sakurai (櫻井周斗, Sakurai Shuto, born June 25, 1999) is a Japanese professional baseball pitcher for the TSG Hawks of the Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL). He has previously played in Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB) for the Yokohama DeNA BayStars and Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles.

Career

Yokohama DeNA BayStars

Sakurai was drafted by the Yokohama DeNA BayStars in the fifth round of the 2017 NPB draft.[1] He pitched in parts of three seasons with Yokohama's main club, struggling with injury, and posted a combined 4.02 ERA with 58 strikeouts across 65 innings pitched.[2] Sakurai became a free agent following the 2023 season.

Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles

On December 8, 2023, Sakurai signed with the Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles of Nippon Professional Baseball.[3] Sakurai made 8 appearances for the Eagles in 2024, struggling to an 8.44 ERA with 9 strikeouts across ​10 23 innings pitched.

TSG Hawks

On March 17, 2025, Sakurai signed with the TSG Hawks of the Chinese Professional Baseball League.[4]
