Hamed Abbasi, known professionally as Siamak Abbasi,[1] is an Iranian singer, songwriter, poet, arranger and composer.[2]

Abbasi completed studies in music and cultural management and later pursued doctoral studies in Persian language and literature, specializing in lyrical literature.[3]

As a singer, his single “Fereshteye Pak” was released in 2010[4] and his first official pop album titled “Khoshbakhtit Arezoome” was released in September 2016.[5]

In 2011 and 2012, Abbasi worked as the manager and artistic coordinator of an Iranian ensemble that collaborated with the Swiss band Jack Is Dead. The ensemble appeared at Festival de la Cité in Lausanne and La Bâtie in Geneva in 2011, and at Paléo Festival Nyon in 2012.[6][7][8]

Abbasi published the lyric collection Khoshbakhtit Arezoomeh in 2012[1] and the poetry collection Khaterate Matrook in 2015.[9]

Before his first public concerts, Abbasi avoided publishing photographs of himself, and several of his early music videos were produced as animations.[10]

In 2016 he held his first official concerts in Tehran.[11] Following his debut concerts in Tehran, Abbasi continued performing in other Iranian cities, including Isfahan.[12]

In 2017, Abbasi appeared on the Iranian television program “Dorehami”.[13] In 2018, he performed the title song for the comedy film “Man Divaneh Nistam”.[14]

After producing and directing several short films, Abbasi made his debut as a theatre producer in 2018 with a stage production of Jean-Paul Sartre’s play No Exit, directed by Giti Ghasemi.[15]

In 2018, Abbasi performed a free concert for approximately 200 trainees at the Raad Charity Educational Complex in Tehran.[16]

Abbasi served as a judge for the Hezar Seda music competition in 2017 and 2018.[17]

In 2020, he released “Rafigh-e Arezoo-hat Bash” for World Diabetes Day and dedicated the song to people living with diabetes.[18]

A 2021 overview in the literary magazine Vazn-e Donya listed Abbasi among singer-songwriters who contributed to the richness and diversity of contemporary Persian song.[19]

In 2022, Abbasi served as a judge for the performed-works category of the fourth Afshin Yadollahi Song Award.[20]

In 2022, under his legal name Hamed Abbasi, he co-authored a study published in BMC Complementary Medicine and Therapies examining the effects of classical music exposure on fertility in a rat model of premature ovarian failure.[21]
