SidelineSwap

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

SidelineSwap is an online marketplace for sporting goods based in Boston, Massachusetts.

History

Former college lacrosse players Brendan Candon and Anthony Piazza created SidelineSwap as a lacrosse classifieds site in 2013.[1] The company raised a friends and family round and relaunched two years later, expanding into sports like hockey, skiing, and baseball.[2]

After participating in the MassChallenge and 500 Startups accelerator programs, SidelineSwap raised $1.5 million in seed funding from Fabrice Grinda, Global Founders Capital (an arm of Rocket Internet), Summit Partners’ Christopher Dean, former Etsy CEO Maria Thomas, and a handful of other investors.[3][4][5][6]

The founding team includes Brendan Candon, Anthony Piazza, Nick Gantsoudes, Conor McDonough, Kevin Guiltinan, and Evertrue cofounder Eric Carlstrom.[7][8]

Business

SidelineSwap operates SidelineSwap.com in the United States and Canada. The platform allows users to sell new and lightly-used athletic equipment, purchase items from other users, and trade.[9]

In the past, SidelineSwap has launched philanthropic partnerships with professional skier Ted Ligety[10], and Major League Lacrosse.[11]
