Sidetrade is a SaaS provider founded in 2000, specializing in generating and securing businesses’ cash flow. Its Artificial Intelligence platform analyzes millions of business-to-business transactions daily to predict organizations' payment behavior and recommends commercial and financial strategies that aim to accelerate its clients' Order-to-Cash cycle. The company has more than 2,700 corporate customers in all sectors and in more than 80 countries.

History[edit]

Sidetrade was founded in March 2000 by Olivier Novasque, as a cloud-based debt collection platform for businesses. Its headquarters are based in Boulogne-Billancourt, Paris.

In July 2005, Sidetrade launched its IPO in France on the Euronext Growth (ALBFR.PA).[2]

In 2011, Sidetrade opened its office in London, then Dublin in 2013 and Amsterdam in 2015. In 2016, the company successively acquired BrightTarget Ltd,[3] a British start-up specializing in Artificial Intelligence applied to Marketing and Sales, and the French start-up IKO System,[4] specialized in predictive analytics applied to lead generation.

In April 2021, Sidetrade announced the acquisition of Amalto[5], a software development company specializing in the dematerialization of inter-company financial transactions, operating mainly in North America. Sidetrade established its US headquarters in Houston, Texas.

Studies and research[edit]

Sidetrade's predictive solutions are based on Artificial Intelligence technologies developed in the Group's integrated data science laboratory. The main AI methods used are machine learning (ML), deep learning (DL), and natural language processing (NLP).

Sidetrade's R&D teams regularly conduct studies of public and academic interest, in collaboration with the universities, public authorities or the media, taking advantage of the unique source of financial data from its cloud:

  • In the context of the Covid-19 crisis, Sidetrade has designed a tracker on late payments in partnership with French media BFM Business[6]. Each week, this tracker shows the evolution of payment behaviors of more than 3.7 million companies in six European countries (France, United Kingdom, Spain, Italy, Belgium, Netherlands). The tracker is available freely to all decision-makers from the private and public sectors in order to help raise awareness of this issue among all stakeholders.[7][8]
  • Payment disputes report: Twice yearly, in conjunction with the French government's Médiateur des Entreprises, Sidetrade produces an index of invoices issued by French SMEs deemed ‘invalid’ by their customers, resulting in late payment.[9]
  • EuroFirmo: In December 2018, Sidetrade was awarded a BPI France Innovation trophy and a grant to work on a unique project called Eurofirmo, aiming to establish and regularly update complete data on 26 million EU enterprises. The goal is to make this comprehensive information available to all businesses, public authorities and individuals.[10]
  • Re-Search Alps: From June 2017 to June 2018, Sidetrade and partners gathered, consolidated, harmonized and made available to different audiences (public and private bodies working at local, regional and national level) data about laboratories and research and innovation centres which are active in the Alpine Area (Austria, France, Germany, Italy, Liechtenstein, Slovenia and Switzerland.). The information includes funding, patents, publications, and awards.[11]

Additionally, in May 2019, Sidetrade and Les Echos, a national French Financial media outlet published a study showing the links between SBF 120 companies and research labs and startups.[12]
