Silk City
Silk City is a music duo comprised of DJs Mark Ronson and Diplo. Diplo describes Silk City as a "homage to some of the greatest dance music cities" on the Silk City playlist on his YouTube channel page.[1]
Diplo and Mark Ronson named Silk City after the Philadelphia institution where they met in the early 2000's. Longtime friends, the project is the two multi-platinum, Grammy-winning producers' first official collaboration and channels their shared love of soul, disco, and house music.[2]
2018: Especially 4 U[edit]
They first started showing presence in 2018, when they posted their first mix, "Especially 4 U, Vol. 1"[3] in May of that year. This mix featured one original song, "Only Can Get Better" featuring Daniel Werriweather, which was published as a single under the label Columbia alongside the mix, as well as several remixes of songs by other artists. 2 remixes, one by Claude VonStroke, and one by Le Sauvage of "Only Can Get Better" were later released in the months after the original release, again released under the Columbia label.
A second single, "Feel About You" featuring Mapei, was released in July of 2018, and a third, "Loud" featuring GoldLink and Desiigner, was released in August of 2018, one week before the duo's second mix, "Especially 4 U, Vol. 2".[4]
