Silverstream® System
The Silverstream® System designed by Silverstream Technologies is a ship Air Lubrication System (ALS) which reduces fuel consumption and ship emissions by producing a carpet of uniform 1mm diameter air bubbles across the bottom of a ship, reducing frictional resistance between the hull and the water.
Shell Sea Trials
Shell funded sea trials of the Silverstream® System and independently contracted Lloyd's Register[1] to specify the trial procedure, and to verify and report on the results.
Following 52 single runs under ballast conditions and subsequent laden trials conducted six months later, the Silverstream® System provided verifiable gains in both conditions.
