Simon David Hunter is the Executive Chairman of Waterloo Studios Australia and Director of Sydney Film School.[1]
Simon established Waterloo Studios, a purpose built film and TV studio in Sydney Australia that is home to Sydney Film School, Sydney Actors School, Talent Development Project and works with ITV Australia.
Early Life[edit]
Born in Sydney Australia and raised in the United States, Simon began making films at the age of ten. He developed his passion right through to tertiary study. He furthered his training at the Australian Film, Television and Radio School and UCLA.
Simon’s career began as a writer, producer and director of several documentary programs for SBS TV before selling his first screenplay to network television.
Productions[edit]
Twisted Tales: Bonus Mileage[2] was produced by Australian icon Bryan Brown for the Nine Network Australia. Simon's screenplay secured Academy Award winner Geoffrey Rush to star in the series. As a result of the series international success, Simon was invited to be represented by one of Hollywood's top literary agencies.
Simon wrote and directed the feature film “The Custodian.” The film has been released internationally by Heritage Films and broadcast on Apple TV and Amazon Prime Video.[3]
Career[edit]
In his previous roles, Simon has served as Director of Bond University’s Centre for Film and TV, President of New York Film Academy Abu Dhabi, and Founder & President of New York Film Academy Australia.
In his educational leadership roles, Simon has assisted students to launch international careers including Hollywood A-List Director Tommy Wirkola (Hansel & Gretel Witchunters).
