Simon Llewelyn Evans (born 19 December 1980) is an Australian musician and singer-songwriter in the folk and country genres, currently residing in Bellingham, Washington, United States.
Personal life
Born in Melbourne, Simon Llewelyn Evans was raised in Geelong by his immigrant parents. His mother, Deborah Jane Hughes (born in Bristol, Gloucestershire, England, 1953), and father, David Llewelyn Evans (born in Dartford, Kent, England, 1952), migrated to Australia prior to his birth. Following his education, Evans spent 15 years living in Fiji, where he studied and practiced under spiritual teacher and artist, Adi Da Samraj.
Recording career
His first album, draw mountains There (2008), was written while Evans was living in Fiji. Produced by Dave Steel of Weddings Parties Anything fame, it reached number 2 on the folk music charts in Australia. The relationship with Steel as producer has continued over the course of Evans’ music career and subsequent releases.[1][2]
Evans writes ‘charming and intimate’ songs that ‘illuminate the journey of life’s trials and tribulations’. Themes tackled in his work range from lost souls and broken hearts to grief and the nature of reality.[1][2]
