Sincerely, Chemicals (or Sincerely) is a chemistry outreach initiative founded by James Kennedy in 2017.

Sincerely, Chemicals provides workshops to journalists and healthcare practitioners who want to communicate ingredient safety messages while tackling the ongoing social problem of chemophobia (the irrational fear of chemicals).

Background[edit]

Kennedy started talking publicly about ingredient safety after the birth of his first child in 2015. He explained his rationale for speaking out during an interview with Coach in 2016:

"My message to parents who are concerned about the chemical compounds in products they buy for their children is try not to be stressed out... don't let an obsession of chemicals consume you, and keep in mind that a little bit of exposure to all substances – even those perceived as being synthetic – is good for building a healthy immune system."[1][2][not in citation given][3][not in citation given]

After speaking at several chemistry outreach events[4][not in citation given], Kennedy packaged the resources he had created into a brand called Sincerely, Chemicals, which is also the name of the workshops he co-runs for journalists and healthcare practitioners.
