Sindhi Boli Qomi Boli

On 16th March 2018, an incident occurred in Dow University's hospital situated in the capital city of Sindh, Karachi, where a doctor namely Faheem Amir handed a showcase notice to Dr. Rabia Bibi for speaking with patients in Sindhi language, further, Dr. Faheem Amir imposed a ban on speaking Sindhi language on campus. After ban the working staff and students of the hospital recorded protest against the Dr. Faheem Amir for imposing ban on Sindhi language. Later, the protest spread all over the Sindh. Chief Minister of Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah took notice of the incident.[1]

Successful protests produced a slogan "Sindhi Boli Qomi Boli" which means "Sindhi language is national language". Later, this slogan became a demand and a strong force of Twitter users took it to the twitter in form of a hashtag #SindhiBoliQomiBoli, within 24 hours this hash tag became a successful trend, with more than 6000 tweets it ranked among top 10 Twitter trends of Pakistan. This trend was very significant because this was the first ever twitter trend produced in Sindhi language.[2] Many people on Facebook also turned their profile pictures to the slogans saying Sindhi Boli Quomi Boli.

Meanwhile, the protests were recorded all over the Sindh, where people demanded the action against the Dr. Faheem Amir and administration of DOW University Hospital. People also demanded from the government to recognize Sindhi as national and official language of Pakistan.[3]

On 18 March 2018, Mr. Faheem Amir sought forbiddance for his act in a vodeo on Facebook.

Government of Sindh posted banners in Sindhi to welcome the finalists of Pakistan Super League after the play off played between Karachi Kings and Peshawar Zalmi.

Javed Afridi, owner of Peshawar Zalmi, tweeted in Sindhi from his official Twitter account. In tweet, he thanked people of Sindh for their love and support.[4]
