Sinnaps is a project management software used for planning and managing projects and work team..[1]. The functionalities of this tool are aimed at managing companies in all types of sectors and of all sizes, where collaborative projects are managed.

The technology used logically prioritises project activities. After the user plans the project, Sinnaps prioritises the tasks and automatically[2] calculates an optimised work route. The entire team can manage their projects day by day using an agile board, where the activities are grouped based on the planning of the projects. With this web application you can also manage the resources used in each activity.

The aim of Sinnaps is to help companies and teams[3] work in an optimised manner, allowing for a more collaborative work environment. Each person involved in the project can follow its progress in real time[4].

Its founder and CEO, Richard Balet began designing Sinnaps in January 2015 in Zaragoza (Spain). And it was first marketed as SaaS in January 2017.

At the end of 2018, Sinnaps exceeded 50,000 users and reached half a million monthly visits to its website all in the space of one year. Besides, more than 10,000 use Sinnaps. The web application expanded internationally and now is being used in more than 55 countries.

History[edit]

Sinnaps began under the name Ulises in December 2013, as a prototype of private software, specialised in rendering and calculating workflows. From there, little by little, it was becoming a tool to plan professional projects.

Richard Balet[5], founder and CEO of Sinnaps, started using Ulises privately. His work in different international consultancies, specialising in the optimisation of industrial processes, required a tool capable of solving his clients’ problems. To help solve this, Ulises was born.

Given the great interest generated by its users and the positive results obtained by Ulises, Richard Balet decided to rename Ulises to Sinnaps in January 2015. A year later, after gathering funds, Sinnaps is launched as on-premises software, a first version for companies.

During 2016, Sinnaps became a web application hosted in the cloud and available for all types of work teams and collaborative projects. The tool[6] went from being of exclusive use for companies to having the skills to address the single user, someone that forms part of a team.

In February 2017, the first free SaaS version was launched, open to all types of users. From then on, usability took a leading role in its evolution. Seven months later, Sinnaps launched its mobile application for Android in beta.

Currently, Sinnaps has a free account that is open to the public, and offers several differing payment plans.

Sinnaps Technology[edit]

The Sinnaps work team has developed its own intelligent technology, which they have called DRS (Dynamic Rendering of Scenarios). This automatically calculates the prioritisation of activities in the project plan, as well as the project’s critical path of work and bottlenecks using PERT (Project Evaluation and Review Techniques or Techniques of Revision and Evaluation of Projects) and CPM (Critical Path Method or critical route method) techniques.

These techniques[7] allow for tasks to be automatically prioritised, based on the user's plan. All of the team members carry out the daily management of their projects through an agile Kanban board with activities ordered and organised according each project plan.

The web application evaluates the progress of the project continuously and allows for flexible planning by suggesting management improvements based on standardised Earned Value Management (EVM) algorithms. The plan is represented through a variation of the Gantt chart, called the Gantt-Flow[8], in order to facilitate the visualization and general intuition of the project.

This technology allows for the combination of agile[9] and predictive methods at the same time.

Features[edit]

  • Optimisation of project duration.
  • Task priority determination.
  • Identification of the most critical tasks in order to avoid delays, called critical path or critical route.
  • Detection of bottlenecks or activities, which determine the continuity and delays of the project.
  • In-app chat[10].
  • Personalised notification system.
  • Project wall and activity wall.
  • Permission and team member role management.
  • Documents and external link sharing.
  • Generation of project reports and resource reports.
  • Continuous evaluation of the development of the project in real time, based on EVM (Earned Value Management) techniques.
  • Templates.
  • Available on Android.
  • Supported languages: English and Spanish[11]
