Shri Abjibapa, also known as Bapashri or Abjibapashri, was a spiritual leader and founder of the Swaminarayan Sampraday in Gujarat, India. He was born on 20 November 1844[1] in a small village called Mahuva in Gujarat. Shri Abjibapa is regarded as one of the most revered saints of the Swaminarayan Sampraday and is known for his devotion, wisdom, and humanitarian work.[2]
A Chhatri was erected in Baladia[3] village of Kutch district of Gujarat state to commemorate his life and contribution to spirituality called "Shri Abjibapani Chhatedi".
There is also a street named in his honor in Ahmedabad City called the "Abjibapa Marg".[4]
Shri Abjibapa was born to a family of farmers and grew up in a devout Hindu household. He received his early education in the village and later moved to the nearby town of Junagadh to continue his studies. He had a keen interest in spirituality from a young age and was deeply influenced by the teachings of Swaminarayan, the founder of the Swaminarayan Sampraday.
In 1873, Shri Abjibapa met Muktanand Swami, one of the disciples of Swaminarayan, and became his disciple. He dedicated his life to the service of the Swaminarayan Sampraday and spent many years spreading its teachings across Gujarat. He founded several temples and ashrams, where he taught the principles of the Sampraday and inspired people to live a life of devotion, compassion, and service.
Shri Abjibapa was known for his wisdom and his ability to impart spiritual knowledge in a simple and practical way. He emphasized the importance of inner transformation and taught his disciples to cultivate virtues such as humility, love, and selflessness. He also worked tirelessly to uplift the poor and needy and established several humanitarian projects to help the underprivileged.
Today, Shri Abjibapa is revered as a saint and spiritual leader by millions of people around the world. His teachings continue to inspire people to lead a life of devotion and service, and his humanitarian work continues to impact the lives of many.
