SIRIN LABS[edit]

Sirin Labs (stylized as SIRIN LABS) is a company specializing in cyber security for mobile devices. SIRIN LABS has developed 2 phones, each utilizing specialized hardware and software to provide users with increased security. SIRIN LABS' stated vision is to bring a simpler, streamlined, and user-friendly user experience, without compromising on security.

SOLARIN[edit]

SIRIN LABS released their first phone, SOLARIN.[1] in 2016. SOLARIN was built with military-grade cyber security[2], and was targeted towards ultra-high net worth individuals[3].

Price[edit]

The price for SOLARIN started at approximately $15,000 USD, due the the caliber and quality of materials used. It was made with real leather, 14k gold, and a diamond stud in the back[4].

Unique Features[edit]

SOLARIN used a modified version of Android which had significant cyber security protections built-in. The operating system was called Shield OS due to it's heavy focus on cyber-security. SOLARIN was also built with a switch on the back of the phone to enable secure mode. When activated, secure mode would turn the phone into a walled garden where all calls, messages, and texts are encrypted, and the phone itself used different hardware (speaker and microphone) and software (keyboard) to ensure privacy and security aren't compromised, even if Android was.[5]

Availability[edit]

SOLARIN was available for purchase globally via the SOLARIN website, as well as through the Harrod's department store in London, and the SIRIN LABS store in Mayfair, London[6]

FINNEY[edit]

In 2017, SIRIN LABS announced their new project FINNEY, a pivot away from the ultra-wealthy market and into the areas of blockchain and cryptocurrency. Their declared mission for the FINNEY is to bridge the gap between the blockchain economy and the mass market by solving the two largest barriers to mass adoption: security and user experience.

ICO[edit]

On December 12th of 2017, SIRIN LABS began a 15 day ICO in order to develop FINNEY, a blockchain-enabled smartphone, the ICO ended on December 26th, 2018 having raised over $157.8m USD in Ether, which was the 4th most successful ICO in history[7].

Brand Ambassadors[edit]

In December 2017, prior to the start of the ICO, SIRIN LABS announced that it had signed Argentinian footballer, and current FC Barcelona forward Leo Messi as a brand ambassador[8].

In October 2018, leading up to the launch for FINNEY, SIRIN LABS announced that they had added Gennady Golovkin as a second brand ambassador[9].

Production[edit]

In April of 2017, SIRIN LABS announced that it had partnered with FIH Mobile, the mobile division of Foxconn to produce the FINNEY blockchain smartphone[10].

Safe Screen[edit]

SIRIN LABS' FINNEY includes a multi-purposed Safe Screen. FINNEY's Safe Screen slides out from the back of the phone, and is a separate display exclusively for wallet transactions and operations. It operates off of a dedicated processor, and utilizes it's own memory, separated from Android. Users are able to utilize the Safe Screen to compare transaction details with FINNEY's Android Wallet application to ensure the information for recipient, amount, and currency has not been altered by malicious software.

Partnerships[edit]

In association with releasing FINNEY, SIRIN LABS announced a partnership with Amazon Launchpad for the marketing, distribution, and sales of FINNEY through various Amazon marketplaces around the world[11].

SIRIN LABS also announced partnerships with various developers of decentralized applications for listing within the dCENTER, which includes: Kuende, BlockTV, Blockchain Cuties, CoinCome, CoinTelegraph, Crypto Gaming Community, IDEX, Portion, and Scanetchain.

Availability[edit]

FINNEY will be available for purchase online through the SIRIN LABS website, Amazon, Harrod's Department Store, The SIRIN LABS store in London, and through brick & mortar stores scheduled to be opened in Dubai and Ukraine. SIRIN LABS will also be opening stores in New York, Seoul, Tokyo, Berlin, Tel Aviv, Turkey, Vietnam, and Kazakhstan.

Release[edit]

Prior to the commercial launch of FINNEY, SIRIN LABS held a media launch event in Barcelona where members of the media were given their first opportunity to use FINNEY. The response from the media regarding FINNEY was overwhelmingly positive.[12][13][14]

The Commercial release of FINNEY is scheduled for December 15th, 2018[15].

SIRIN OS[edit]

SIRIN OS is the evolution of Shiled OS, and is an ultra-secure and Google-certified modification of Android. It consists of 4 key elements: A cold-storage hardware wallet, A multi-layered cyber security suite, Token Conversion Service, and dCENTER.

Cyber Security Suite[edit]

FINNEY has a built-in and multi-leveled cyber-security suite. This protection is built into every level of the operating system from the kernal to the application level, and includes a machine learning Intrusion Prevention System, pre-installed secure email platform, and secured calls and messages.

Cold-Storage Hardware Wallet[edit]

FINNEY was developed to include a hardware cold-storage wallet that functions off of independent hardware, software, and a dedicated display. It also has a separate power switch for added security.

Wallet Functionality[edit]

The FINNEY wallet functions independent of the SIRIN OS. When a request comes to the cold-storage wallet, the wallet must first be powered on (warmed), and authenticated using the user's password. The wallet will interact with the Android wallet application briefly in order to provide the signed transaction. The user will then be able compare the address, amount, and currency in order to ensure the android application had not been corrupted to send the crypto transaction to a malicious 3rd party.

Token Conversion Service (TCS)[edit]

FINNEY also includes a Token Conversion Service, which simplifies the payment process for crypto transactions[16], and enables users to make crypto transactions without the need to visit an exchange.

TCS Functionality[edit]

Due to the incredibly large number of tokens on the marketplace, the Token Conversion Service functions through liquidity pools for supported tokens in order to simplify the crypto user experience. If a user only owns Bitcoin, but wants to complete a purchase in a different currency, the TCS, operating in the background of the phone, will be able to swap your Bitcoin for the coin or token needed to complete a transaction seamlessly and automatically.

dCENTER[edit]

FINNEY's dCENTER includes a decentralized application (DApp) store, and a Learn & Earn center which rewards users with cryptocurrency for learning about crypto projects[17]

OEM Use of SIRIN OS[edit]

SIRIN LABS has made the SIRIN OS available to major OEM device manufacturers and has said that it is in talks with several OEMs in order to have them utilize it in their blockchain-enabled devices.[18]

Secure P2P[edit]

The SIRIN OS provides developers with the infrastructure to enable users to safely and securely connect on a P2P level, and monetize their devices, through the blockchain, by selling anything from batter power, to WiFi data, to CPU processing power, to other SIRIN OS users.

Use of SIRIN Token[edit]

OEM use of the SIRIN OS is contingent on those companies agreeing to maintain use of the SIRIN token (SRN) within their crypto ecosystems.

SIRIN Token[edit]

The SIRIN token (SRN) is the cornerstone of the SIRIN LABS ecosystem. It is used as a primary currency throughout the SIRIN OS as well as within the SIRIN LABS stores, both online and offline. Customers who use the SRN token to purchase goods or services from SIRIN LABS will be entitled to a discount on their purchase.

Payment Methods[edit]

SIRIN LABS accepts payments for products and services with the SRN Token, fiat currency, Bitcoin, Ether.
