Sisley is a brand of the Italian fashion company Benetton Group that since 1968 has been offering collections for Men and Women in perfect harmony with the most avant-garde trends: an unconventional brand with a strong personality, with a contemporary aesthetic that makes it immediately recognizable and appreciated.

History[edit]

The history of the brand begins in Paris in 1968, with the presentation of the first Denim collection. Since then, Sisley has continued to offer a revolutionary way of dressing compared to the standards of the moment.

The coming together with Benetton took place in 1974 when the Group, sensing its potential, purchased the rights for exclusive use, but it was only in 1985 that Sisley assumed its own independent personality with an autonomous creative and commercial staff and a new image in terms of sales outlets, products and advertising.

1996 marked another important step in Sisley’s history: the logo was changed from the gold-garnet shield, which had made the brand famous throughout the world, to white text on a black background, which was both more elegant and refined.

Style and collections[edit]

Every season, Sisley offers collections for Women and Men with one fundamental objective: to always be on the same wavelength as those who follow fashion and its most captivating contents. With over 900 stores worldwide, Sisley represents a way of dressing and being recognizable in the clothing sector. The Sisley product team is attentive to everything that is fashionable, receptive to stimuli, sensitive to the phenomena that attract young generations. This receptivity is also expressed in the details, in the accessories, in the colors, in the fabrics, united by a refined style but without excesses. Creativity and innovation, however, don’t overshadow precise commercial choice that aims for an excellent quality-price ratio, thanks to continuous research in the textile sector and the new technologies applied to it.

Campaigns[edit]

Famous throughout the world, the Sisley campaigns have been entrusted for many years to the hands of Terry Richardson, who created the image for Sisley as a sort of fictitious reality, with a strong sensual component, lightened up and played down with a clever twist.

The Sisley Diaries were born from his creativity and have become, season after season, real cult objects and collectibles: from the first editions where the theme was the journey, until today where the diary is an opportunity to tell feelings, fantasies or even just settings and moments of life.

In the new Sisley strategy, advertising also stages the world of the brand through a captivating mix of seduction, modernity and coolness. With this in mind, recent campaigns have been able to capture that irreverent, rhythmic urban style that is synonymous with Sisley, and that integrates with online activities and the exquisitely social interaction with the increasingly numerous community of fans.

Hand-in-hand with the renewal strategy of the brand, products and communication, Sisley opened a series of stores with the Rich & Raw concept, which sums up the fashion identity and at the same time authentic, contemporary and cosmopolitan character of the brand, transforming the store into a sensory spectacle of the brand.

Sisley in sport[edit]

Starting in the 1980s, following the Benetton Group's then corporate policy, the Sisley brand, like the others owned by the Benetton family, saw its reputation increase thanks also to sports marketing practices.

The discipline that gave the greatest satisfaction was volleyball where in 1987, with the acquisition of the sporting rights of Antares Vittorio Veneto, a men's company sponsored by the homonymous brand was established - Sisley Volley. The newly-born club soon became one of the most titled on the Italian scene, earning 9 championships, 5 Italian Cups and 7 Italian Super Cups in the following quarter of a century and also emerging at the highest levels in the international arena thanks to 4 CEV Champions League, 2 Cup Winners' Cup, 4 CEV Cup and 2 European Super Cup victories.

In 2012, with the disengagement of the Benettons, the organization lost Sisley’s sponsorship concurrently encountering a gradual technical decline, but still surviving under the new name of Volley Treviso.

Water polo was another important project, thanks to the sponsorship of the men's team of Waterpolis of Pescara during the 1980s. In particular the organization, under the name of Sisley Pescara, won various trophies in the same decade both nationally and internationally, most notably in 1987 with a treble consisting of the Scudetto, European Cup and European Super Cup.
