Six Sisters (Chinese:六姊妹)is a 2025 Chinese television drama written by well-known novelist Yi Bei, based on the Web Novel Six Sisters by author Yi Bei(伊北), directed by Lou Jian and starring Mei Ting and Lu Yi. The series follows the joys and sorrows, as well as the twists and turns of fate, experienced by six sisters from the He family in Huainan, Anhui, over the course of half a century, from the 1950s to the early 21st century.
The series premiered on Tencent Video and CCTV-1 on February 3,2025, concluding its 38-episode run on February 27, 2025.
Synopsis
This series chronicles the bittersweet life story of the He family from the 1950s to the early 21st century in Huainan, a quaint southern town located in Anhui province, and reflects the changes in the lives of ordinary families after the establishment of the People's Republic of China. As the times evolve, the six sisters - He Jiali, He Jiawen, He Jiayi, He Jiahuan, Liu Xiaoling, and He Jiaxi navigate the ups and downs regarding romantic relationships, friendship, social obligations, and career pursuits, eventually coming to a profound understanding of the essence of family.
Cast and characters
- Mei Ting as He Jiali
As the eldest daughter of the He family, after her father’s passing, He Jiali shouldered the family’s responsibilities alongside her grandmother and mother, learning at an early age to face life’s challenges on her own.
- Lu Yi as Zhang Jianguo
He Jiali's husband. Through his hard work and talent, he rose to become an outstanding officer in the military. His actions earned He Jiali's trust and love, and the two eventually married.
- Wu Junmei as Liu Meixin
The mother of the six He sisters. Under the pressure of the family that favored sons over daughters, she longed for a son but ended up having six daughters. When her husband died unexpectedly in a car accident, she was left to shoulder all the family’s responsibilities on her own.
- Gao Lu as He Jiawen
The second daughter of the He family, she is beautiful and gentle, and stands out among her sisters.
- Ying Er as He Jiayi
The third daughter of the He family. He Jiayi has her own opinions and aspirations regarding many things. Together with her husband, she worked hard and ultimately achieved success.

The fourth daughter of the He family, she worked hard at her studies and became the first college graduate in her family, thereby changing the course of her life.

The fifth daughter of the He family. Liu Xiaoling was very bold; she had a child with her husband before they were married, but after her husband betrayed her, she gave up everything to secure custody of her son.

The sixth daughter of the He family. Having been doted on by her family since childhood, she developed a self-centered personality and considers only her own interests in everything she does. She is willful and spoiled, and will stop at nothing to get what she wants.

[1]Following its broadcast, it set records for CVB with single-day and per-episode ratings exceeding 5 and an average rating surpassing 4, respectively. It also broke the record for the highest-rated prime-time drama on CCTV-1 in nearly a decade. [2]On Tencent Video, its peak popularity rating reached 29,374, marking the highest rating for a period drama on the platform since the start of 2024. Following its initial broadcast, the series has been repeatedly rebroadcast across more than 20 satellite channels, including Dragon TV, Shenzhen TV, Sichuan TV, Henan TV, and Anhui TV. Through a combination of terrestrial multi-channel distribution, minority language versions, and the Ministry of Railways channel, it has established a nationwide broadcast network that spans the entire year and reaches audiences across all demographics. As China’s first period family drama to be dubbed into Thai and broadcast on a local Thai platform, the series was successfully selected for the National Radio and Television Administration’s “Ethiopia TV Chinese Drama Theater.” It surpassed 10 million views on YouTube alone and received an enthusiastic response from audiences on international platforms such as WeTV and iTalkBB.
