History

SkinCeuticals was founded in Dallas in 1997 by dermatologist Dr. Sheldon Pinnell, who developed and registered the Duke Antioxidant Patent, which was the first commercially viable stabilized version of topical Vitamin C. [1] The brand released an over-the-counter serum featuring the patented compound called C E Ferulic, which became the top selling Vitamin C serum of all time, as of 2026. [2] The company was acquired by L'Oréal in 2005 for an undisclosed amount.
