Sky-mobi Limited is a mobile applications company based in Hangzhou, China. It is China's largest mobile application store by sales.[2] The company was set up on April 20, 2007; prior to 2010, it was named Profit Star Limited. Sky-mobi was funded by the US-based Sequoia Capital, and provides mobile applications and services through its mobile application platform (“Maopao”).

Operations[edit]

Sky-mobi Limited has branches in Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen. As of March 31, 2013, it had approximately 1.2 billion users;[citation needed] and cooperation agreements with approximately 1,170 feature phone and 106 Smartphone handset companies. Over 70% of the employees are under age of 30 and the average age of managers is 33.[3]

In March 2014, Sky-mobi's subsidiary, Mopin Technology Co., became the official application store partner of Wo Store of China Unicom Ltd.[4] In March 2012, Sky-mobi's subsidiary, Hangzhou Mijia Technologies Co., Ltd., reached a strategy partnership with China Mobile. According to the terms of the agreement users could read and download Sky-mobi's Maopao could publish content from China Mobile's reading platform and China Mobile Group's gaming platform.[5][6]

In October 2011, Sky-mobi Limited reached a strategic agreement with SINA Corporation. According to the agreement, SINA's microblog Weibo became a core component of the Maopao Community.[7]

Applications
Applications include mobile social games (such as Fantasy of the Three Kingdoms, Beauty Dou Di Zhu), social network applications (such as QQ instant messenger and Sina Microblog), music applications (such as Ai Ting Bar), and other applications (such as "pay-as-you-go" to buy lottery tickets).

Social Network Community
Maopao provides users with enjoy handsets with entertainment functions including social networking and games. Its network infrastructure automatically reports any detected errors on a real-time basis to its control center.[8]
