skyNRG is a leading company in the sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) sector.[1] They based in Europe which makes sustainable fuel for jet aircraft.[2] It was started in 2009. In Amsterdam by KLM (Royal Dutch Airlines), the North Sea Group, and Spring Associates. In 2013 they were awarded Roundtable on Sustainable Biofuels (RSB) certification.[3].

KLM, SkyNRG, and SHV Energy have been reported to have committed to a plant which uses process technology from Topsoe (previously trading as Haldor Topsoe) to form naphtha, bio propane and SAF from waste and residue streams such as used cooking oil.[4] This was done by the hydrodeoxygenation of lipids to form long chain alkanes and propane as a side product.

They produce a synthetic kerosene from carbon dioxide and green hydrogen. In Feb 2022 it was reported that the carbon dioxide for the production of the biofuel will be obtained from a cement plant.[5]

In additional to the industrial work, skyNRG has funded work on the development of alternative aviation fuels[6] and staff members within the company have coauthored articles about biofuels[7]. They were involved in a EIT Climate-KIC funded project (grant number APSP0002).
