First appearance
The Sky EPG was first seen and released alongside the start of the Sky Digital service in 1998.
Versions
Sky EPG 2.6b.10 - 2.7.a.2
Here are some quick facts about this version:
- It released alongside the Sky Digital service in 1998.
- It was discontinued in 2001, following the release of Sky EPG 2.7bb.5 (the first release of the Dark Blue EPG).
- This version is extremely rare.

The Sky EPG still used the old Sky logo, and had a light blue theme with curved lines and patterns back then.
This version of the Sky EPG was what many people would see during the 1990s, and it only received up to 3 days of programming information, yet works fine with the 7 days of programming information today.
Sky EPG 2.7bb.5 - 3.3a.6 (Digibox Version numbers)
The version numbers used are the Digibox versions of the Sky EPG, but the descriptions also apply to Sky+
Here are some quick facts about this version:
- It was released in 2001.
- It was discontinued in 2005.
- This version introduced the new Sky logo and the Dark Blue theme.
- Sky+ released around this time, and the Sky Analogue service had shut down.
- This version introduced the Personal Planner and 7 days of programming information.

It is seen here that the Sky EPG started using a plain dark theme, and a new logo, which are small changes. Not much has changed here.
During 2001, Sky was experiencing rapid changes throughout their service, with the closure of Sky Analogue, the launch of Sky+ and a complete acquisition of British Interactive Broadcasting.
Sky EPG 3.3b.5 - 3.8.8(ns) (Digibox Version numbers)
The version numbers used are the Digibox versions of the Sky EPG, but the descriptions also apply to Sky+
Here are some quick facts about this version:
- This version was released in 2005, and had the final update in 2010 for the Sky+ and Sky Digibox.
- This version is common, and can be found on most Sky+ and Digibox boxes.
- This version introduced the transparent Sky logo we have today, and the Light Blue theme.
- This version has support for HD, and Channel Categories across 2 pages.

Here, you can see that the Sky EPG now has the transparent Sky logo, and the personal planner is now accessed with the green button, unlike older versions that used 0 for Personal Planner. The EPG is also no longer dark blue.
In this version, the Sky EPG has a system health check, Sky Anytime, Auto Standby and HD Support, so it is considered to be the EPG with the most features before Sky EPG v8 / R-Series.
Sky EPG v8
This version of the Sky EPG is still based on OpenTV, yet has more features and a complete redesign. It was released for all Sky+HD units.
Sky EPG R-Series
This Sky EPG version is the most recent version before the Sky Q, and is Unix based.
