Sleep Token is an English progressive metal collective which originated in London in 2016. The group has released two extended plays—One (2016) and Two (2017)—and a full length album, Sundowning, released on 21 November, 2019.
The group is known for their dynamic sound and anonymity, with the only named member, referred to as Vessel, providing vocals.[1][2] According to the artist, their music is a form of worship of an entity which they call Sleep.[1]
Music style and influences
The group is known for their diversity of sound, going from piano ballads, to an Electronic/Pop oriented sound, and to an Heavy Post-Metal/Djent oriented sound. Their musical genre can be defined as Progressive Metal, Djent, Post-Metal, Alternative Rock, Alternative Metal, Ambient and Dark Pop, and they are often compared with other artists such as Deftones and Ghost due to the anonymity of the members.
The group are influenced by "A plethora of artists", such as Deftones and Bon Iver, and has stated on an interview that their songs are meant for "Worshiping".
