SmartBill
Developed in 2007 by entrepreneurs Radu Hasan, Ioana Hasan and Mircea Căpățînă, SmartBill is currently the most used and most appreciated online billing and management software on the Romanian market, with over 50,000 cloud clients.
SmartBill addresses a wide range of businesses, from PFAs, small and medium-sized companies, to multinationals, from all business sectors. More than 2,000,000 invoices are issued monthly with SmartBill and more than 12 billion euros are invoiced annually.
In 2016, SmartBill benefited from a €1 million investment from investment funds Catalyst Romania and Gecad Ventures, which took over 30% of the shares in a capital increase operation.
In 2019, the Norwegian group Visma took over half of the company, but the founders retain control.
The company has a turnover of over 15,000,000 lei and is one of the most important players in the financial-accounting software market.
SmartBill is a business software ecosystem, with the main objective of automating processes, data transfer and document issuance, thus eliminating the manual, redundant work of re-entering data into various systems. The products in the SmartBill ecosystem are:
- SmartBill Invoicing
- SmartBill Stock Management
- SmartBill Accounting
- SmartBill Point Of Sale
Latest SmartBill project, in collaboration with Visa, encourages business owners to include in their invoices the card payment button. "Digitizing SMEs in Romania means coming up with automation solutions to real problems that produce additional costs and hinder growth. Cash flow is one of these problems, and the functionality we developed with Visa's support proposes a solution that is as simple as it is efficient. The payment button on the invoice will increase the cash flow rate so that SMEs can focus on growth", says Radu Hasan, Co-Founder & CEO SmartBill."[1]
"By simplifying the payment process, the solution will have a direct positive impact on SMEs' cash flow, encourage card payments and increase the cash collection rate," representatives of the two companies say in a statement."[2]
SmartBill is the solution that promises to rid small businesses of paperwork and red tape. They recently launched a very interesting feature called "SmartBill Network" - a kind of social network for businesses and entrepreneurs[1] Mircea Căpățână: "The project was started in 2007, it was a program that made notices, invoices, receipts and proformas. On April 13, SmartBill will be 14 years old, and since then it has changed a lot, it does management and accounting, we have moved to the cloud and now a dream we have had since 2015 has come true, and we have launched the SmartBill Network."[3]
