SmashET, is a casual puzzle, 2D video game developed by Winsche Studios. The arcade features an Extra-Terrestrial invasion of the Earth and a multi-coloured, comic-style, with cute monsters that try to save humanity's key landmarks. Inspired by Breakout and Angry Birds, SmashET is a blend of both, delivering hours of fun and entertainment with a hundred level designs. Over 500 gameplays are enabled due to the game’s internal AI, which adapts the difficulty level to players’ skills. The game is due to debut on PC on September 28, 2018.
In the game, players use a trampoline to launch the monsters into the air with the goal of destroying all alien ships in the level. As players advance through the game, new types of ET’s spaceships appear on the screen and new types of monsters with different abilities become available. Game levels feature iconic landmarks such as Eiffel Tower, Big Ben or Taj Mahal to name a few out of 100 cartoon-style designs which enables the developers to leverage a combination of addictive gameplay and exploratory learning.
SmashET is implanted with “the brain” Ody (Odysseus) which stimulates the process that human brains go through called perceptron. Throughout the gameplay, Ody analyses players’ ability and decision making, in order to adjust the gameplay difficulty.
Gameplay
In SmashET, the player controls a group of monsters that are trying to help save the earth's landmarks from destruction from evil hordes of Extra-terrestrials who invade the earth. Each level features a number of different spaceship formations. The objective of the game is to eliminate all the spaceships on the level. Using the trampoline, players launch a monster into the air with the goal of destroying ET’s spaceships by striking them directly or bouncing off the sides or top. As the game progresses new monsters are made available, with up to 5 monsters in total. Each monster is selected by the player prior to launch. Only three monsters can be used per level, therefore the player must ensure they choose wisely. Players control the trampoline position so that the monster can bounce off it again. In various stages of the game, additional power-ups become available and the player must destroy a crate and catch the falling power-up or power-down. After several levels the section of the game is finished with the boss level, which features the leader of the Extra-terrestrial army. Number of spaceships and destruction difficulty is determined by the player skills and monster choices.
There are several different types of monsters used in the game, distinguished by their color and shape and size. In the earliest levels feature only the violet monster. As the player advances through the game additional types of monsters become available. Monsters are equipped with different skills to destroy spaceships that cannot be otherwise destroyed. Each level enables three turns to destroy all the spaceships in the formation. If all the spaceships are eliminated, the level is completed and the next level is unlocked. If the monster is not caught by the trampoline and hits the ground it’s destroyed and the next monster must be selected. If the last monster is destroyed and there are spaceships left, the level is incomplete and must be repeated. Points are awarded for damage to, or destruction of the spaceships.
