Smithfield, Vermont

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Smithfield is an extinct town in Franklin County, Vermont. Established in 1763[1], this Vermont land grant of 23,040 acres (9,320 ha) was overlapped by a New York grant of 25,000 acres (10,000 ha), solidifying the town.[2][better source needed] In 1792, Smithfield was dissolved and split between Bakersfield and Fairfield.[1]

In the first U.S. Census in 1790, the only census while Smithfield was a town, it had a population of 70.[3]
