Randy Smith, professionally known as Smitti Boi, is an American producer and A&R. He has produced numerous records for artists, such as Cee-Lo Green, Boosie Badazz, B.O.B., Curren$y, Tee Grizzley, and many more.[1] In 2018, Smitti Boi was name A&R for Blue Collar Gang label artist, Stalley.[2]

Early life[edit]

Randy Smith was born November 17, 1984 in East Meadows, New York and grew up in Augusta, Georgia. In 2015, he moved to Atlanta, Georgia, where he resides. Smitti Boi began pursuing his passion for creating music at age 16. He dropped out of high school and attended Youth Challenge Academy in Fort Stewart, Georgia. He received a GED through the academy. Randy stopped making music to join the U.S. Army.[3] He received the name Smitti from his army buddies. He added Boi to his name to pay homage to producer Drumma Boy. After Smith’s 2009 Iraq deployment, he was stationed in Lawton, Oklahoma.

Career[edit]

Smitti made contact with producer M16, via Twitter, in 2012. A relationship was formed with the Grammy nominated producer, from that point on, which currently remains. M16 became Smitti Boi’s mentor during a trip to Atlanta at Hot Beats recording studio. Smitti got his first placement with recording artist, Cassidy, while he was still serving in the military. His placement with recording artist, Tone Trump, came thereafter. Smitti started traveling between Lawton, Oklahoma and Atlanta, to work with Atlanta-based artists, in 2013. 2015 marked the year that Randy decided to separate from the military to pursue music on a full-time basis. He set up shop at Atlanta recording studio, Hot Beats. He started working with CTE World artist, Slick Pulla, Scrilla, and other artists in the area.

Smitti worked with numerous artists between 2015 and 2017. The producer became interested with and impressed by SAE Institute of Atlanta, while speaking on an iStandard panel there. He made the choice to enroll in the institute’s program to learn more about audio engineering and the music business. He graduated from SAE, in 2016, earning a degree in Music Business and a diploma in Audio Engineering.

In 2017, Smitti Boi produced “Drug Lord Couture” [4] for recording artist, Nick Grant, who released his freshman track “Return of the Cool”. The song debuted at number 15 on the Billboard Charts. Alongside production team, The Olympicks, Smitti co-produced “Robbin” for recording artist, Tee Grizzley, in 2018. Tee Grizzley’s album, Activated, debuted at number 10 on the Billboard 200.
