Smoking (Japanese: スモーキング) is a Japanese television series which premiered on TV Tokyo in Japan on Apr 20, 2018, and was released internationally on Netflix on July 27, 2018. The series was created and written by Hajime Gonno, and features Ishibashi Ryo, Nobuaki Kaneko, Maruyama Tomomi, and Yoshimura Kaito.[1]
Cast and characters[edit]
- Ishibashi Ryo as Uncle Sabe/"The Flayer", a former army doctor and assassin turned vigilante. He runs the vigilante group Smoking.
- Nobuaki Kaneko as Haccho, a funny and talkative skilled marksman of Smoking.
- Tomomi Maruyama as Goro, a big strongman Smoking enforcer who does most of the physical fighting.
- Kaito Yoshimura as Hifumin, a mute chemistry expert of Smoking.
- Kazuya Takahashi as Kenuma, a brutal enforcer of The Cleaner.
- Akaji Maro as Sunaji, the boss of an assassin organization called The Cleaner.
- Matsuda Ryuhei as Masayuki Sakakibara, a corrupt government official who hires The Cleaner to do his dirty works.
- Manami Hashimoto as Minami, a bento store employee and is the love interest of Goro.
- Takashi Yamanaka as Wakabayashi, the second-in-command of The Cleaner.
- Yukijirô Hotaru as Matsudo, an old friend of Uncle Sabe and former getaway driver of The Cleaner.
- Shinpei Ichikawa as Nodoguro, a psychotic enforcer of The Cleaner who escapes prison.
- Rin Furukawa as Tatesawa Hina, a young and innocent daughter of one of Smoking’s target who befriends Haccho.
