So Energy is a renewable energy company headquartered in London, UK.[1] The privately held company was established in 2015 by former Macquarie traders Charlie Davies and Simon Oscroft. The electricity supplied by So Energy is from renewable sources.

Overview[edit]

So Energy was started in 2015 with two employees. The founders wanted to reinstate trust in energy suppliers.[2] The company sources its electricity from a combination of renewable sources namely hydro, wind, solar and biomass. The hydro power comes from projects in Scotland and Wales, wind power from Anglesey and solar power from farms in England.[3][4] It also supplies gas.

Partnerships[edit]

In October 2020, So Energy partnered with Morrison Data Services to deliver meter reading, data management and smart metering installation services in parts of UK.[5] The company further expanded its services by partnering with Axpo UK, a Swiss renewable energy producer, to improve access to short and long-term commodity markets and other renewable energy sources.[6][7] It also collaborated with HomeServe, a home emergency repairs business.[8][9]

Recognition[edit]

In 2017, So Energy was recognized for its customer service by The Hounslow Chamber.[10] As of 2020, it has more than 200,000 customers and has topped Citizens Advice’s energy supplier rankings for the sixth time in Q2 2020.[11][12]
