Background[edit]

Soaper Duper was launched in October of 2016. Like its sister company, Beauty Pie, Soaper Duper was founded by Marcia Kilgore. The concept was of an ethical bath and body brand that offered natural derived formulas and packaging that respected the environment, and gave back to the global community. Its tagline: “We believe that soap can change everything” underscores this attitude that pervades the company philosophy. In particular, the brand is focused on advocating against water-born diseases that derive from poor sanitation and lack of access to clean water, which still affects hundreds of millions of people around the world.

In late October 2016 the company launched its first line of products at the Liberty of London department store. Their products are now found in over 900 Tesco stores nationwide and online.[4] Their most recent launch was of an anticipated coconut body wash and coconut body butter.

Collaborations[edit]

Soaper Duper commissioned the industrial designer Ross Lovegrove to create their iconic bubble bottle made of 100% PCR (post-consumer-recycled) goods.[5]

Partnerships[edit]

Soaper Duper partners with WaterAid, a UK based non profit organization that provides soap and clean access to water and better sanitation to communities globally that lack good access to basic water resources.[6] By 2019, Soaper Duper has pledged to give at least £150k to WaterAid. WaterAid has reached 23 million people with safe water since 1981 and 21 million people with better sanitation. Soaper Duper teamed up with WaterAid in 2017 on a trip to Madagascar for Global Handwashing Day to advocate for better handwashing education for families, with a focus on teaching children.

Awards[edit]

Soaper Duper has won three awards for ethical businesses: Best Body Cleanser from Cosmopolitan, Best Natural Body Brand from Woman and Home, and Best Body Product from Women's Health. Furthermore Soaper Duper has been featured by prominent journalists such as India Knight and Sali Hughes for their water and sanitation initiatives in partnership with WaterAid, and their dedication to using recycled, recyclable goods and naturally derived formulas.
