The Priestly Society of Trent (Latin: Sociedad Sacerdotal Trento; SST) is a sedevacantist traditionalist Catholic clerical society based in Mexico. It is named after the Council of Trent, the nineteenth ecumenical council of the Catholic Church, which was instrumental in the codification of the Tridentine Mass.

History[edit]

Carmona period[edit]

On 1 November 1991, he died from injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Mexico.[1]

Post-Carmona period[edit]

For the next eight years after Carmona's death, Bishop Mark Pivarunas, CMRI, an American sedevacantist bishop consecrated by Carmona in 1991, inherited Carmona's responsibilities of the care of numerous churches and thousands of sedevacantists throughout Mexico. In 1993, he consecrated the American sedevacantist Father Daniel Dolan a bishop to have him help him in his work in Mexico.[1]

On 14 October 1998, at the request of Pivarunas, the priests elected one of their own to be consecrated a bishop. The priests elected Father Martín Dávila Gandara, who was then consecrated a bishop by Pivarunas[2][3] and Dolan on 11 May 1999 in the Divine Providence Church in Acapulco.[1]

Present day[edit]

The society currently operates in countries in North America, South America, and Europe, but mostly operates in and is based in Mexico.[4]
