Societal XR is a form of Extended Reality (XR) that eliminates the need to use head-mounted display by moving the required technology into the environment. It makes XR interactively usable and experienceable not by immersing people in virtual worlds, but by bringing virtual offers into the real world. Societal XR is intended as a public form of XR that can also be perceived by bystanders and passers-by and not only by its respective users. For this purpose, it integrates aspects of Spatial Augmented Reality, Mixed Reality, Social XR, Ambient Intelligence, and Ubiquitous Computing.[1]
